Islington Giving is all about investing in young people to create real opportunity for Islington.
Young people told us there wasn’t enough to do at the weekends so we have teamed up with Access to Sport and Aquaterra to take over the Sobell Centre in Finsbury Park from 7pm-11pm for Saturday Night Sports and much more.
The first Saturday Night Project took place on 25th June. Nearly 200 11-19 year olds had the chance to dance, cheerlead, rollerskate, play football, basketball, table tennis, netball, basketball and badminton!
As well as the sport, information points provided healthy eating and sexual heath advice as well as info on training, volunteering and other Islington youth projects. Fruit, water and smoothies were also on offer in a Healing tent.
Everyone who took part got an Izz card, meaning that not only can they get involved with future Saturday Night Projects but also discounts into all leisure centres in Islington.
As well as investing in young people, Giving Time is a key part of Islington Giving and 10 people signed up on the night to train as sports volunteers and coaches in the future.
