Islington Giving’s UnLtd Challenge

The UnLtd Islington Challenge is now closed for 2011. Thank you to all those who applied, we are considering applications and will announce those who have received awards in December 2011.

The next challenge will open in Summer 2012.

ABOUT THE AWARDS
Islington Giving are teaming up with UnLtd, the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs to run the Islington Challenge. We are looking for exceptional people with great ideas for setting up new social ventures that address the themes of the campaign – Poverty, Isolation and Mental Health Issues.

WHAT IS AVAILABLE
Support and funding of up to £5,000

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
• Great ideas that that tackle Poverty, Isolation or Mental Health Issues in Islington? The Islington Challenge will support individuals or informal groups with projects that:
• Create entrepreneurial solutions to an identified social issue or concern in Islington

Your project must not:
• Involve political or religious campaigning;
• Involve activities outside the law or against public policy, or anything that encourages ethnic, religious or commercial disharmony;
• Involve employing people other than yourself to carry out most of the project work;
• Be used mainly to achieve academic qualifications.

WHO CAN APPLY?
Applicants must be:
• Aged 11 or over
• Living in Islington
• Applying as an individual or an informal group

What do I get from the Award?
Successful individuals or informal groups will receive from £500 – £5,000 of funding alongside:
• One-to-one support through a dedicated Development Manager over the course of your project;
• Access to a network of experienced business professionals through UnLtd Connect as well as a dedicated Islington Giving mentor;
• Two workshops in September on 22nd and 29th to help develop your idea.
