We’ve recently discovered a fantastic blog, Islington Faces, where writer Nicola Baird meets Islington residents from all walks of life.
This week, she caught up with Mayor of Islington, Cllr Barry Edwards who shared his love of the borough and why he supports Islington Giving, one of his chosen charities this year.
Q: What’s the one thing you’ve learnt during your life?
There are no such beings as ‘self-made people’. Looking back I realise how lucky I was to have parents, teachers, neighbours and friends who have helped me. There are many people, young and old, who do not have all that support and if I can’t help them personally I can support Islington Giving to support the many volunteers and organisations in the borough that help those who need support.
