Confronting Isolation – Grants Programme

This programme has closed for 2011 but will reopen in Spring 2012. You can find out about the projects funded here.

Islington Giving is proud to announce the launch of its first Open Call grants programme.

We are seeking partners to deliver a programme under our Confronting Isolation theme, with funding of up to £5,000 for innovative projects in this area.

We are looking for partners who can:
• Reach the most vulnerable and isolated older residents or those affected by mental ill health
• Provide imaginative activities and services when there is little available, such as at weekends and in the evenings
• Work with Islington Giving to promote the need for these services
• Encourage Islington residents to get involved in the campaign as volunteers and supporters

Priority will be given to:
• Organisations which can demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the needs of Islington residents and show they can reach residents in greatest need
• Organisations which can show how they can support the Islington Giving campaign
• New and imaginative activities that respond to a demonstrable need
• Activities which directly address issues of isolation

The programme will not fund:

• Schemes or activities which would be regarded as relieving either central government or local authorities of their statutory responsibilities.
• Grants to replace cuts in funding made by the local authority or others.
• Advancement of religion and religious groups, unless they offer non-religious services to the local community.
• Retrospective grants.
• Commercial or business activities
• Core costs or routine revenue related activities

How to apply
This is an open call for proposals. Up to 10 organisations will be funded through the programme in 2011. Potential partners are asked to complete a proposal form and an application form.

The deadline for applications is 15th August 2011 at Midday

Proposals will be considered by the Islington Giving Coalition at its meeting in September 2011 and successful partners will be informed in early October.

You can download our proposal and application form, as well as these guidelines, below.
